Since I've been sick with this pregnancy my house has fallen apart. I admit it, I'm a little OCD and have had to sit back and watch my house fall to pieces. It's killing me! So I broke down and asked for a cleaning lady. Scott after calming me down reminded me that I would never be OK with that. I certainly don't want to pay someone else to come in and clean up when I can do a better job then them (OCD remember)!!! So he mentioned a chore chart. I know, how pathetic am I that my kids, the oldest being 8, don't have regular daily chores. Why would they need chores when it's already been done for them......by me of course. So I'm supposed to organize a chart that we are to go over after FHE tonight. The problem is.........I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START. Calling all mom's, please give any ideas you use, heard of, or have wanted to try!! Remeber my house is in complete caos, so any ideas are good ideas!
THANK YOU in advance!!

Not really sure how much this will hgelp but my kids are in charge of a room for the week...one has their room snd the onther has the living room. Rex is in charge of unloading the dishwasher everyday and Cass is in charge of cleaning off the table too.
Oh I am so sorry that you are soooo sick! My advice...Let it go. Seriously, I mean yes give your kids chores to do but don't stress you will feel good enough to take it on again. My kids have the same chores all of the time, empty dishwasher, empty silverware (the younger ones) Clean room and vaccuum every week, etc. Sorry I am not much help...Good Luck!
We are trying out a new job system right now. They get a chore for a week and then switch. They have to do it everyday after school and then different chores on Saturday. Daily chores: garbages, empty dishes, load dishes, put clean clothes away (everyone does their own). They also have to make their bed and pick up room in the morning. At dinner they rotate clearing table, wiping table, sweeping floor. We keep track of it all on a magnet board. So far so good. Hope you feel better soon!!!
so funny about our same stress habits...ya i make my fingers bleed also..been doin it for years..very bad habit!! i am sorry you aren't feeling good, that is soo hard for me to, to just sit back and watch the house fall apart...my kids like april at the top each take a room a week, front room, tv room and bathroom down stairs..then they alternate each week that room has to be done daily along with their other chores: they unload dishwasher (top is one child, bottom is another, those switch each time because if not then i will hear about it and silverware is my younger one (like cas), clean their own room and bathroom, also they have to tend to their own clothes after being washed...we are not pros at this by any means but this has just been something that has worked at our house!! sorry i missed telling you this by fhe, but hopefully something worked out for you guys...good luck!
i have no advice...as i too suffer from ocd. my kids do help out around the house, but they are too small to do things like put dishes away, or load the dishwasher. they do help with laundry....gathering it and sorting it. then they each take care of their rooms, and the toy room. besides that-i do the rest. i think next year i'll get some kind of chart/rotation thing going....you should talk to cheryl. she has some really good ideas.
i am so sorry for you. if the house isnt clean then i am a total freak, screaming and yelling at everyone.i have no good advice for you because i am ocd so bad that i wont let anyone help because they just dont get it clean enough..i make 5 beds every stinken day and dont even get me started on the bathrooms or laundry! i hired a cleaning lady once and my hubby found out how bad i really am, however it is definately better than nothing. good luck!1 holly
Personally I love cleaning ladies!:) I have 6 of them who come on the first friday of every month. They scatter and clean hard and fast for an hour. They do all of the things that I hate like baseboards and blinds. Otherwise I am trying, emphasis on trying, to teach my kids about contributing to the home. They make beds, vacuum, fold and put away their own laundry, (this I admit is very hard for me because their clothes always look sloppy. Drives me crazy!) Unfortunately I have been unable to relinquish any control in the kitchen. Someday I'll let my boys unload the dishwasher...maybe.
I recently read a really good book that helped me overcome my need to do it all myself. It's call "Parenting Breakthrough" by Merilee Boyack and it totally changed my whole outlook on kids and chores. I highly recommend it. Hope you are feeling better!
Thank you everyone for your great ideas. So far our plan has worked! I took an idea from everyone and put a chart together. It is Saturday morning and all jobs are COMPLETE!!! I love it. I have to be honest though, I haven't ruled out a cleaning person.:) We'll see, if I just felt better I wouldn't mind doing the tough stuff I actually enjoy scrubbing a bathroom!! Thanks so much!
Sorry, that was me posting on Bill and Karen, I forgot to change my mom off!!!
